SAINTS DEFEATED.

Llandrindod Wells 2 Saints 0.(match report to follow).

Gwernyfed 3 Newcastle 0.

The Saints suffered their first league defeat of the season against a hard working Llandrindod side.

The Saints started the brighter of the two teams early on and were the better side in the first 20 minutes but never really tested Adam Wright in the Llandrindod goal.

Llandrindod took control of the next 25 minutes putting pressure on the Saints defence with Ian Jones having to come off his line several times to clear the ball away. The home side also had two big shouts for a penalty the one looking a cert but the ref waved play on. Mike Havard and Russell Jones had to put in several blocks to stop goal bound shots. It was a relief in the Saints camp to hear the half time whistle. ht 0-0.

The Saints dominated possession for long periods down the slope in the second half but found the home sides defence in fine form with Michael Watkins having a stormer at the back also keeper Wright pulled off two great saves one especially from Kevin Jones which was going up into the top corner until the fully stretched Wright tipped it over the bar. Then came the sucker punch as the Saints pushed for the opener a ball over the top found the Llandrindod sub who had just come on he took a touch and finished well to put the home side 1-0 up. The Saints tried to get an equaliser but never really looked like scoring, the closest they came was when Rob Snedden hit the bar  from a free kick and the ball bounced down on the line only to be cleared and it was another break by the quick Llanrindod front two which sealed the Saints fate with a cross from the left being tapped in at the far post giving keeper Jones no chance. ft 2-0.

The Saints put in their poorest display of the season against a fired up Llandrindod side, Ben Bevan was missing and Gavin Williams limped off at half time, Rob Snedden spent long periods of the game limping after declaring himself fit thats not taking anything away from the Llandrindod side who deserved their win on chances created. I thought Chris Preece played well, Ian Jones did not a lot wrong in goal but my man of the match is Russell Jones for the blocks and tackles he put in especially the first half.

Saints- I.Jones, R.Jones, M.Havard, P.Davies, G.Williams(J.Davies), S.Powell(S.Mayglothling), C.Preece(c), J.Mayglothling, R.Snedden(J.Daw), K.Jones, J.Wisniewski. sub not used- T.Weaver.
