Reserves Lose in Brecon.

The Reserves went down 1-0 tonight against a young Northcote side.

The first half saw the home side dominant, although they never really looked like getting past the Saints defence which was well marshalled  by Steve Jones.

The visitors thought they had gone 0-1 up when a Callum Maddy cross was headed in by Ben Bevan, unfortunately it was ruled offside by the Northcote linesman.(I thought it was a good goal but my 15 year old son said it was off!).

The only goal of the game came after 30 minutes, the Saints had a corner which the Northcote keeper caught, he then took a quick kick which bounced once and their striker smashed it past Michael Ward, route one at it’s best!

The second half saw us take control, Maddy put Horrigan in one on one with the keeper but he saved well, another effort looped onto the bar and away to safety. The Saints should of had a penalty after the Northcote keeper threw Wilf Ratcliffe to the floor off the ball but the referee ended up lecturing them both!

Dan Jones nearly scored with a header but the defender put it over the bar from 10 yards out, the Saints had several corners and free kicks but Northcote dealt with everything thrown at them and hung on for the win.

We were slow starting and didn’t get going until the second half but just couldn’t find the equaliser.

Man of the match by a country mile was Steve Jones.
