SAINTS 4 PRESTEIGNE RESERVES 0.

The Saints got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory over third placed Presteigne Reserves.

It took the Saints 10 minutes to break down a stubborn Presteigne defence, Sam Powell winning a header high up the pitch, the ball fell to Josh Wisniewski who played it back to the advancing Powell, Powell took one touch and smashed it past Trevor Gummer in the away goal. More Saints pressure followed and 10 minutes later it was 2-0 with Wisniewski again the provider setting up Rob Snedden who fired a yard shot into the bottom left corner of the goal. Presteigne who always try to play football were struggling to get out of their half and when they did they found a brick wall in the form of Mike Havard and captain Chris Preece who were both outstanding all game. On 38 minutes the game was put out of Presteignes reach when a Russell Jones cross was cleared only to find Powell waiting 25 yards out, Powell hit a screamer giving Gummer no chance of saving it. ht 3-0.

Presteigne did have an half chance early in the second half but Bryan Kirkham got his angles right and saved with ease. Kevin Jones (whose link up play was first class) didn’t have his shooting boots on and missed a couple of decent chances early on, Presteigne were now playing very deep and the Saints forwards were finding it hard to break them down, it took a bit of magic to get the fourth goal which came after a Phil Davies throw found Wisniewski in the box, with his marker tight behind him, Wisniewski flicked the ball first time over the defenders head, spun around and volleyed the ball past Gummer for what must be one the best Saints goals of the season. Gummer made two fantastic saves late in the game, one from Jones and one stopping Powell claiming a hat-trick. ft 4-0

This was a much better team performance from all the players, there were a few excellent performances, Sam Powell in midfield, Sam Mac alongside him, Josh Wiz had 2 assists and scored a beaut of a goal but I’m giving my men of the match to Havo and Preecy who never put a foot wrong all game and were immaculate in everything they did.

Team- B.Kirkham, R.Jones, M.Havard, C.Preece(c), P.Davies, G.Williams(J.Mayglothling), S.Powell, S.Mayglothling, R.Snedden(J.Daw), J.Wisniewki (O.Cooke)
