Saints Go Second.

The Saints beat Machynlleth FC 5-1 this afternoon with goals from Brendan Hackett(2), Jack Biggs(2) and Ryan Davies. Richie Evans scored for the visitors late on.

Machynlleth kicked off but after eight seconds found themselves 1-0 down, striker Brendan Hackett pounced on a mistake by the full back, Hackett finished well past the stranded Mach keeper.

The game was end to end early on however, Saints keeper  Tom Lewis wasn’t tested thanks to his back four of Preece, James, Croose and Cripps who were solid in marshalling the visitors speedy attackers. Up the other end Matt Croose went close with a header from a Hackett corner as did Biggs two minutes later.

Midfielder Jack Biggs finished off a good move by scoring from twelve yards to put The Saints 2-0 up. The visitors had their fair share of the ball but it was the home side who always looked like adding to their total with Ryan Davies prominent on the left and Matt James, Biggs and capatin Stu Davies in control of the centre of the park. Ht 2-0

Davies put The Saints 3-0 in the 50th minute after a good move involving both James brothers, Davies beat the keeper from sixteen yards out.

In the 65th minute Jack Biggs was sent flying in the box, referee Rob Evans pointed straight to the spot, if he had not blown so quick Steve Morgan would of added to seasons goal tally as the loose fell to the forward, he netted from close range.The Saints need not of worried as from the resulting penalty Brendan Hackett sent the keeper the wrong way to notch his second of the match and The Saints fourth. 4-0.

Richie Evan’s pulled a goal back for Machynlleth in the 80th minute, the midfielder scoring from the edge of the box making it 4-1.

Jack Biggs netted his second with five minutes to go to make the final score 5-1 to The Saints.
