SAINTS 6 PENYBONT UNITED 0.

The Saints beat Penybont United 6-0 last night with all the goals coming in the first half.

It took the homeside just 47 seconds to open the scoring, when  Johnny Daw was fouled out wide on the right a free kick was awarded, Ben Bevan sent in a deep curling cross to the back post which Captain Chris Preece headed past the visiting keeper 1-0. It was 2-0 five minutes later when another Bevan crossed was stopped by the keeper only for the loose ball to be crossed back across the goal line by Daw to the advancing Joe Maygothling who tapped in from close range 2-0. Joe’s brother Sam who was pulling the strings in midfield with partner Sam Powell crossed in another teasing ball which an away defender headed past his own keeper for 3-0 after just 19 minutes. Top scorer Kevin Jones got the 4th on 21 minutes after a goal mouth scramble he thumped in the loose ball, just one minute later it was 5, a Kevin Jones cross was turned in by Daw at the far post. The final goal of the night was the best with Preece collecting the ball on the half way line and playing it into Sam Mac, Preece continued his run into the box and Mayglothling chipped in an inch perfect ball for the Captain who hit a beaut of a shot past the Penybont keeper 6-0.   ht 6-0

The second half was very quiet with the game already won, Preece did get the ball in the net but was denied his hat trick with the flag up for offside, Jones rattled the bar with a right foot effort, Penybont had a good chance for a goal late on but stand in keeper Josh Davies stood up well to save with his feet to keep a clean sheet. ft 6-0.

This was a difficult game for the lads with Bryan still on everyones mind, the football in the first half was some of the best we have played this season, the second was never going to live up to the first with the game already won and changes being made.

The  man of the match was a close run thing for me with Ben Bevan just edging out Chris Preece.
