The Reserves are out the of The Emrys Morgan Cup after a narrow 0-1 defeat by visiting Aberdyfi FC.
The only goal of the game came in the third minute, the ball finding the back of the net directly from a corner. After the shock of this The Saints got on top with the impressive Darren Horrigan beating his marker time and time again on the left with his pace, however, the Dyfi keeper was in fine form making several saves from the youngster.
Sometimes you know it’s not your day and in the 20th minute the ball must have been cleared and blocked on the line at least five times by the visitors keeper and defenders in one passage of play.
The Saints piled on the pressure leading up to half time but just couldn’t score past the impressive Dyfi back line. Ht 0-0.
Manager Tiny Harding made a few adjustments at half time but I felt we didn’t look as dangerous with Horrigan playing a little deeper saying that we still had the majority of the ball. The visitors went close late in the game a couple of times from close range and really should of put the game to bed but missed the target from 6 yards out on two occassions. Ft 0-1.
A very good performance from a young Saints side against their more experienced visitors. It was good to see Callum Maddy back playing after a long lay off, Rory and Darren impressed but my man of the match was 16 year old Luke Cohen on debut who was outstanding at the back.
