Weekend Preview.

All Saints sides are in action this weekend but once again the weather will have a big say in proceedings. I walked our pitches yesterday, the main pitch has standing water all over it, the second pitch has water in places whilst the third pitch is our best hope and even that is in a very wet all over.

Saturday

Penybont United FC v Saints First Team  k.o. 1.45pm  Central Wales Cup.

I spoke to ‘The Gaffer’ and he had this to say, “Penybont have struggled a bit in the league this season but did beat Division 1 side Llandrindod 2-1 in the league cup recently so they won’t be taken lightly”. He went on to say “They also gave us a good game at our place last season in which we scored a late winner to claim the three points. Hopefully we can start the new year on a high by putting in a good performance so we can progress to the next round”.

Players unavailable – Tom Lewis, Stu Davies, Rob McNamara, Chris Preece and Steve Goodwin, Rob Snedden. In come, Steve Jones, Danial Elvestad, Matty Tong, Jake Atkinson and Adi Lawford.

Squad

Steve Jones, Tom James, Adi Lawford, Jordan Baker(c), Matt Croose, Jake Atkinson, Matty Tong, Brendan Hackett, Jack Biggs, Steve Morgan, Ryan Davies, Danial Elvestad, Matt James and Will Goodwin.

Saints Reserves v Rhayader Town Reserves.  k.o. 2pm.

The Reserves face a tough test against league leaders Rhayader Town Reserves. When the two sides met at The Weirglodd earlier in the season the score was 1-1 in one of our best performances of the season. The visitors are the current league champions and are pushing hard for another title so we know what to expect.

‘The Gaffer’ had this to say about Sunday’s Otway cup tie “We have played Orleton Colts in pre season friendlies for the last two seasons and they have been close games. We drew 1-1 against them in July so we know that we will be in for a tough game. We always take this cup serious, we have been in the last four finals, we won it  last year against Rhosgoch 1-0”.
