BUILTH WEDNESDAY 0 SAINTS 9.

The Saints picked up 3 points on Saturday with a comfortable win at Builth Wednesday.

The Saints should of been 3 up within the first 20 minutes but were guilty of some poor finishing, Kevin Jones blasted over a couple of shots after out muscling the Wednesdays centre halves, Sam Powell also put an effort over the bar. Jones opened the scoring after 30 minutes and then 5 minutes later he put in winger Ben Bevan who fired in a right footed screamer. ht 0-2.

Jones finished the game as a contest 30 seconds into the second half when he ran through and notched his second, The Wednesday tried to attack but got nothing out of the Saints rearguard who played so well goalkeeper Ian Jones never had a save to make, to be fair though the home side never stopped running all game. Further goals from Joe Mayglothling, Josh Wisniewski and an individual goal from Sam Powell who cleverly ran from the halfway line with the ball when everyone pushed up for the offside trap and finished past Ross Tompkin. Kevin Jones also added 3 more to take his personal tally to 5 for the day.

The Saints took their time to get going but once they did the young Wednesday side struggled to get out of their own half. There were a few good performances on the day but none more so than the outstanding Gavin Williams who was faultless all game.

The record books were being checked on Saturday night after 51 year old Manager Fil Wisniewski had to be called into emergancy action after a clash of heads between defenders Mike Havard and Russ Jones which resulted in Jones having to leave the field with a jaw injury, it was Wisniewski’s debut as a player for the club and he could be the oldest player ever to make his debut as a Saint!
