WOOFERTON RESERVES 0 SAINTS RESERVES 1.

Scorer G.B.Keeble.

Match report to follow.

Saints Reserves got back to winning ways on Saturday with a hard fought 1-0 win at Wooferton thanks to a first half goal from Graeme Keeble. The Saints did well against a physical home side who became more frustrated as the game went on.

Wooferton started full of determination and were quick in to tackles meaning that it took a bit of time for the Saints to settle. Wooferton had an early chance when their striker went clear wide on the right and hit a good effort across goal . Other than this the defence  dealt with most things well enough.

Around the half way mark the Saints went ahead. Garry Keeble found space in midfield and played a lovely ball in to the path of brother Graeme who had ran beyond the strikers. He had a good touch to take it past the keeper and cooly finish in to the bottom corner.HT 0-1

The Saints were now playing more football on what was a fairly bouncy pitch and had alot more controlled possession. Wooferton were intent in getting back in to the game and only a terrific Stu Davies tackle stopped an equaliser. Other chances for the home side went begging. The Saints held on though to secure another 3 points in there debut season after losing Phil Davies to a ankle injury 15 minutes from the end and having to play with 10 men.

A good solid team performance on what was a difficult surface to get the ball down to play and against a physical side who became more frustrated as the game went on. 0-1 FT.

Team -G.Morris, J.Howard(P.Davies), S.Davies, L.Pugh, C.Bounds(T.Johnston) ,O.Cooke, G.Keeble,G.B.Keeble,T.Wilkes, J.Thomas(W.Goodwin), J.Daw

Another bizarre refereeing performance with the Saints getting two players booked and the home side none. Cookie was booked after he threw the ball at their agricutural centre half(fair enough) who had barged him off the ball after the whistle had gone. The centre half then decided to push Cookie in the chest and was aggressive. The referees decision? Have a nice little chat to him and tell him not to be a naughty boy. I thought RESPECT was meant to cover opposition teams as well.Very typical of the refereeing we have had all year in the league – mainly poor.
