Saints Win Again.

The Saints won 4-1 against visiting Llanidloes Town FC to make it six wins on the bounce.

Goal scorers were Matt James, Jack Biggs, Rob Snedden and Brendan Hackett.

Llnidloes started the better and fired a shot just post the post in the first minute. Just two minutes later we went ahead when a Rob Snedden cross was misjudged by Warwick in the Llani goal, the ball ending up in the back of the net with Matty James claiming the last touch as it went over the line. 1-0.

Within 60 seconds it was 1-1, Steve Goodwin was penalised for a push in the back on the visitors number 9. Referee Chris Bodenham pointed to the spot, the penalty was duly dispatched sending Saints keeper Steve Jones the wrong way. 1-1.

The visitors saw a lot of the ball in the next ten minutes but on a rare Saints attack Warrick pulled off a good save from Jack Biggs but the striker reacted quick and volleyed the rebound in to put us 2-1 up in the 11th minute.

The rest of the first half I thought Llani were the better side but our defence was rock solid again, Jones saved well in the 40th minute tipping a shot from the edge of the area around the post for a corner.

As half time approached winger Steve Morgan was fouled around 30 yards out and a free kick was awarded. Snedden took it and what looked a deep cross deceived everyone and flew into the top corner to send us in at half time 3-1 up.

The first fifteen minutes of the second half once again saw Llani pressing and having more possession but not really causing our back line a great deal of problems. Up the other end Brendan Hackett and Warren Sherwood were having a great battle, Hackett never stopped running all game filling in the strikers role for the unavailable Ryan Davies.

The last 25 minutes belonged to us, we got on top and had our impressive visitors pegged back, in the 82 minute we were awarded a penalty when of the Llani twins tripped Hackett. Hackett stepped up and sent Warwick the wrong way for 4-1.

We had two more good chances at the end, first Matty Tong out paced the centre back but his shot was saved, then Biggs was inches away from scoring from Hacketts corner.

The Llanidloes sub put a free kick just over the bar  in the last minute, the final whistle went which sees The Saints have now won their last six league and cup games.

This was a much improved Llanidloes side from the one we played just 3 weeks ago, they pressed us well and stopped us playing. What we did well was hit them on the counter attack and take our chances when they came.

Many thanks to RM Jones for sponsoring the game, they chose Steve Goodwin as man of the match.
