Radnorshire Cup.

Saints 0 Presteigne 3.

The Saints went out of The Radnorshire cup in the first round against a much improved Presteigne side.

Saints keeper Steve Price was called into action after 45 seconds when Nick Evans burst through the middle but Price made an outstanding save by tipping the youngsters shot over the bar, from the resulting corner Shane Sutton should of done better with his header but headed over the crossbar from 6 yards out.

It didn’t take the away side long to take the lead when Sutton put Evans in for his 4th goal in 3 games since signing for Presteigne. The Saints never really tested the visiting keeper in the first half the only save he had to make was a Dan Jones deep cross which he had to tip over the bar. ht 0-1.

The second half was more evenly contested with Gavin Williams causing problems down the left and perhaps could of been awarded a penalty if he had gone down after being clipped by Gary Evans, Steve Goodwin also shot just wide after going by a couple of players.

There was controversy over Presteignes second goal after the referee overruled the linesman who flagged Sam Williams for offside, to be fair Williams finished well from an acute angle for 0-2. Presteigne got the 3rd goal late on to put the game to bed with man of the match Williams on target once again. ft o-3.

The Saints struggled against a much stronger Presteigne side especially with Sam Powell, Sam Mayglothling, Brian Dyer, Stu Davies, Josh Davies and Liam Bannister all missing plus Wes Evans and Chris Preece on the bench both still getting over injuries, saying all that Presteigne definately deserved their win on the night.

Team- Steve Price, Dan Jones, Steve Goodwin, Sam Bradley(Wes Evans), Phil Davies, Gav Williams, Toby Johnson(Chris Preece), Tom Weaver(Will Goodwin), Gary Keeble, Kev Jones, Josh Wisniewski.

Good luck to Presteigne in the next round..
