Bartestree 2 v Saints( Hfd League) 0.

The Hereford league side travel to Bartestree on Saturday for a quick return fixture, having only played them at beginning of month. Bartestree are a stong side , this will be a hard game for the Saints.

This was a fantastic performance from a 10 man Saints side who battled to the end with the home side only getting their second goal 2 minutes from the end.

A 3 5 1 line up worked very well in the first half  with great discipline being shown all over the pitch. Playing down the slope the Saints also created a couple of chances. Firtsly Garry Keeble combined well with Gareth Pugh with Pughy just failing to get decent contact with his shot. Mike Havard had a headed chance from a Graeme Keeble corner with his header going straight at the keeper. Gr. Keeb then couldnt quite get to a deep Havo free kick at the far post.

Most of the half though was spent defending and they all showed great teamwork and commitment to each other to keep the home side to mainly long shots. Josh Barrell in goal made a couple of good saves when called upon but mainly the hardwork of the team kept the home side at bay. They couldnt do anything about the first half goal though which was a terrific 20 yard shot which gave Trunch no chance.

Second half was always going to be difficult as the team had worked so hard in the first half and they were now playing up quite a considerable slope. They kept battling though and through sheer hard work some good saves from Trunch and a little bit of luck now and again held out until the last couple of minutes.

Chances were few and far between second half although Pughy had an outstanding run along the bye line after collecting from a throw flicking it over a defenders head and shooting over.

MEN OF THE MATCH

Trunch in goal was great as he  made a couple of really good saves and kept encouraging others.Millsy although carrying a knock for most of the second half was solid at the back.Havo well he was Havo – great game( except for one bit mate). Boundsy solid at the back with a run forward now and again – I think when he got fed up. Pughy worked hard with good skill. Gaz Keeb worked hard covered well and tried to get forward when he could. Gr Keeb showed good vision even when under pressure – good covering. Psycho really disciplined team performance supported Paul up front and got back to defend. Charlie Bullock defended well and made some very important challenges. Paul Ward Willis some excellent hold up play with alot of closing down done as well.

Well done boys – see you training Wednesday.
