Chris Preece was on the score sheet for the reserves.

The first team beat Montgomery Town FC 4-2 yesterday at Forest Road. Top goal scorer Brendan Hackett netted two more, other scorers were Jack Biggs and Steve Morgan.

The visitors took the lead through a Jack Biggs own goal, Brendan Hackett then scored twice to put us 2-1 up going in at half time.

‘Monty’ equalised early in the second half. Jack Biggs made up for the own goal by putting us back in front 3-2, Steve Morgan finished the game off with the last goal to make the final score 4-2.

The reserves are through in ‘The Emrys Morgan’ cup after a comprehensive 1-5 win at Llanrhaeadr Reserves. Goal scorers were Rob McNamara(2), Kevin Jones, Matt Turrell and Chris Preece.

After an even start in the opening 15 minutes ‘Macca’ finished at the far post rounding the keeper after latching on to a Matty Tong through ball to put us 0-1 up. Once we opened the scoring we were on top most of the game and it wasn’t long before Kevin Jones scored a free kick after  Tong was tripped just outside the area. Ht 0-2

Matt Turrell made it 0-3  taking a quick free after Tong was again hacked down, the centre half placed his shot past the keeper who was still organising the wall.

A ball over the top saw ‘Macca’ sprint on to it and he shot through the keeepers legs to make it 0-4.

Llanrhaeader pulled a goal back with a good finish by their captain with 15 minutes to go.

In the 82nd minute Chris Preece rose highest at the back post to head in a Richard Meredith corner.

Ft 1-5

A dominant performance by the reserves, Richard Meredith having his best game to date, we looked solid at the back with the experienced Preece and Turrell.

The only downside of the day was a back injury to midfielder to Jamie Howard who had to come off after 55 minutes.
