Reserves Win Away.

The Saints Reserves cranked up the pressure on the top two by winning 1-4 at Presteigne Reserves.

Goal scorers were Rob McNamara(3) and a Kevin Jones penalty
Presteigne Reserves went ahead in the 20th minute, after the visitors failed to deal will a long throw into the penalty area from Ryan Stokes, allowing the loose ball to be fired home from the edge of the area through a crowd of players. The Saints levelled the scores five minutes before the break when Rob McNamara was allowed to turn on the edge of the penalty area and fired a low effort past Mark Ammonds in the home goal. The visitors went ahead 21 minutes after the interval when Kevin Jones converted a penalty, awarded by referee Steve Fisher for handball by a Presteigne Reserves, despite strong protests from the hosts. The Saints extended their lead in the 85th minute, after breaking quickly from a corner they were defending, when McNamara latched on to a through ball and slotted past Ammonds. The former Talgarth Town front man celebrated his birthday in style, by completing is treble in stoppage time, when he swept home a ball that rolled across the host’s penalty area to maintain the Saints’ title ambitions with just six league fixtures remaining this season.
