The Saints lost 0-1 which made it three consecutive home defeats for the Green and Whites.

The Saints started the first 15 minutes much the brighter than their visitors who seemed happy to sit back deep and soak up the pressure, Sam Powell came close to opening the scoring after getting on the end of a Kevin Jones flick on but his shot went inches wide, Jones also had a couple of efforts on goal but the Carno keeper had no problems in dealing with either shot.

The visitors looked very sharp on the counter attack especially their small number 11 who ran the channels well, he in fact got the ball in the net after 26 minutes but the goal was ruled out for offside when in fact he looked onside, however it was evened out just two minutes later when the same player got the ball in the net when he clearly looked well offside this time the goal stood.

The rest of the firs half was tight with goalkeeper Stephen Price pulling off one good save again from the number 11, up the other end Steve Goodwin went close after a good move involving the hardworking Phil Davies down the left side. ht 0-1.

The second half started with both sides quite even but finished with The Saints well on top but they just couldn’t break down the impressive Carno defence.

On two occasions their keeper was beaten with the ball rolling over him but both times he somehow managed to get a hands on the ball with feet coming in from all angles, the first shot was from Jones and the second effort from Goodwin. Phil Davies caused the visitors problems all afternoon with his energetic display down the left flank but the strikers just couldn’t find he back of the net from all the crosses he put in. The returning Sam Mayglothling replaced the injured Sam Powell and showed some nice touches on times and will surely be a huge boost for the squad once he gets back to full fitness. Carno did get the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out immediately for offside and from the resulting free kick The Saints broke quick and Goodwin  went close with a left foot curling shot just missing the target. ft 0-1

I think if we were playing with more confidence we would of won this game comfortable as Carno seemed happy to sit back and soak up the pressure and while earlier in the season we were scoring goals for fun we seem to be struggling to find the back of the net as of late.

I thought Steve Goodwin played very well today as did Wes Evans but my man of the match goes to Phil Davies for his non stop running and effort throughout the 90 minutes.

Team- Steve Price, Josh Davies( Will Goodwin), Chris Preece(c), Wes Evans, Phil Davies, Stu Davies, Tom Weaver, Sam Powell( Sam Mayglothling), Steve Goodwin, Josh Davies(Will Goodwin), Kevin Jones, Josh Wisniewski.
