Radnor Valley away this Saturday.

Hay St Marys face Radnor Valley away this Saturday in what should be a great opportunity for three points.  Radnor are yet to get off the mark this term having lost their opening two games.

A disappointing result for the Saints who had to fight back from a 3 goal deficit to grab a point in the last 2 minutes thanks to a cool finish from John Sly. Radnor scored there first from a cross which deceived Josh Davies in the Hay goal and drifted into the far corner. Just before this Mike Havard had missed a golden opportunity to put the Saints in the lead but somehow didn’t connect with the goal at his mercy. Radnor went two up when a through ball was cleared by keeper Josh Davies but it fell straight to a Radnor player who hit a wonderful strike from fully 40 yards with Josh out of his goal. Tom Weaver then had a header saved just before half time from a Garry Keeble cross. H.T 0-2

Radnor went into a 3 goal lead when the ball was hooked on from a corner and headed in at the far post. There was some thoughts that it had not crossed the line but both Josh D and Graeme Keeble confirmed after the game that it was a foot over the line. Now the Saints had to dig deep and to be fair to them they fought hard on a day when things were just not happening.

“BIG FIL” then made some changes putting on Gareth Jenkins for Jamie Howard and Hays luck changed when Stephen Jenkins was bought down and Saints were awarded a penalty(???). Weavs stepped up played a one two off the keeper and headed in. Hay were now playing with some fight. Jenko then went into the box and slotted the ball home very cooly into the far corner. It was all Hay now with them desperate to get at least a point and John Sly then stepped forward applying a nice cool finish in the box. Hay had one last chance to win it when a left wing cross was headed wide by John Sly.

Special mention must be made of John, Jenko and Graeme Keebs(non playing sub) who came along and did the club proud. All three then played on the Sunday when they beat Richards Castle 6-2. The Sunday side now sit proudly at the top of Division 1. They have a game Sunday 23rd at home against Pencombe who are level on points in second with an inferior goal difference.
