Saints 3 Bromyard Town Res 5.

The Saints went down 3-5 yesterday to Bromyard, after going two down in the opening four minutes they never really recovered.

It took the visitors just 60 seconds to open the scoring after some sloppy play at the back, the Town right winger burst into the box and fired his shot past a diving Bradley in the Saints goal 0-1.

Around the four minute mark it was 0-2 when a copy cat goal this time scored by the impressive number 11 for Town down the left side of the pitch, his effort giving Bradley no chance.

It took the homeside another 10 minutes to string two passes together, when they finally did a good move down the left saw Gavin Willimas skip by two defenders and cut the ball back from the byline but Kev Jones effort went wide. On the half hour mark Josh Wisniewski’s powerful header from a corner was cleared off the line by a defender with the keeper well beaten.

Bromyard were still looking dangerous on the break by getting numbers forward with fast counter attacking football, however the closest the game came to another goal was a Chris Preece long range effort which went inches wide. ht 0-2.

The second half saw a feast of goals. It started with a Sam Bradley effort being well saved followed up by another Wisniewski header just going over the bar. In the 52nd minute it was 1-2 after Brendon Hacketts cross was knocked back across goal by Wisniewski into the path of the oncoming Mike Havard who made no mistake from close range.

Bromyard went straight up the pitch and regained their two goal advantage making the score 1-3. In the 63rd minute it was 2-3 when the visiting keeper fumbled a Kevin Jones cross over the line, credit to the lineswoman who gave it.

Two minutes later the gap was back to two goals when Bradley was lobbed from distance making it 2-4.  Hackett was now causing the left back all sorts of problems with his direct running and trickery, in the 70th minute he beat his marker and then saw his shot well saved by the Town keeper, five minutes later Wisniewski released him down the right, Hackett cut in and hit the goal of the game which was a  left foot rocket from 20 yards, it hit the underside of the bar on it’s way into the net.

The Saints were putting the visitors under a lot of pressure but were sucker punched once again with ten minutes to go, another counter attack saw the Saints fail to clear the ball out of the box which ended with a Town player blasting the ball in from close range to make it 3-5.

The score stayed the same up until the final whistle. ft 3-5.

I think we were still in the dressing room when they scored their first two, after that we were chasing the game, credit to Bromyard who kept scoring on the counter when under a lot of pressure in the second half. The man of the match is very easy this week, well played Brendon Hackett.
