Saints Lose 4-0 in Cup.

The Saints bowed out of the league cup to holders Rhosgoch.

Playing with the wind in the first half the Saints didn’t play to the elements at all and found themselves a goal down on 15 minutes when keeper Ian Jones spilled a shot into the path of striker Geraint Lloyd who made no mistake from close range. It soon could of been 2 had Chris Howe not put his shot into the side netting when it looked easier to score. Goalkeeper Jones had Hay’s best chance when his length of the field clearance nearly deceived the Rhos keeper who just managed to get a hand on it and turn it around the post. The Saints never really tested the away keeper during the whole 45 minutes of the first half.  HT 0-1.

The second half went from bad to worse with a mix up between Jones and Chris Preece resulted in Lloyd winning the ball and making it 2-0 and worse was to follow with Lloyds studs catching Preece on the knee,Preece was carried off and taken to hospital with a deep open cut across his knee. Chris Howe soon got the third for Rhos and then Hay striker Kevin Jones was shown a second yellow and sent off. The Rhosgoch sub scored a simple tap in after Gareth Davies had hit the post and make the final score 0-4.

Manager Fil Wisnieski rested several players ahead of Tuesday nights semi-final against Penparcau and the team never really got going from the off. With Chris Preece now missing for Tuesday the Saints will need to play much better to get their season back on track.
