Rhosgoch Away.

Tomorrow night(Wednesday) the Saints make the short trip to league leaders Rhosgoch.

The Saints will be without Chris Preece and Tom James due to work commitments, in comes captain Stu Davies and Josh Davies.

Manager Tom Weaver said “It’s a shame there’s not more more on the game, after our defeat to Knighton second place is pretty much out of the question”. He went on to say “Rhosgoch deserve to be champions the way they have played this year, I wish them all the best for next season”

This will be Tom’s last league game at the helm, he is away for the Machynlleth fixture,  after two seasons in charge he is stepping down as manager at the end of the season. He has agreed to help out the new gaffer when possible and hopes to get the odd game if needed.

I think Tom has done a good job, we have progressed as a side and on our day are a match for anyone in the Spar league. The main problem he has faced is players being unavailable, tomorrow is a prime example, two good players come in yet two become unavailable due to work. I recently asked Tom how many times this season has he had a full squad to choose from, his answer “NOT ONCE”, that says it all.

Some memorable games with Weave in charge, the 4-3 Otway Cup win against Knighton last season, the 2-1 defeat at Spar 1 champions Llanidloes Town, where we led 0-1 and were in control until we lost Gav Williams and Stu Davies to injury. The 2-3 E R Jenkins cup win at Rhosgoch earlier in the season and my favourite of all when were 2-0 down at Four Crosses in the Central Wales Cup and I said to Tom at half time “For God sake take yourself off”, he didn’t listen, we won 2-3, he scored two and won a penalty for the third, enough said!
