The First Team won 6-1 against a spirited Forden United FC this afternoon at Forest Road.
The Saints adapted quickly to a new formation that the Gaffer wanted to have a look at and within 4 minutes we were 1-0 up after Josh Davies was played in by Phil Davies, the left back scoring from 12 yards out.
The visitors found themselves under a lot of pressure in the early stages but to their credit defended well.
Striker Jack Biggs made it 2-0 after being set up by Rob Snedden on 25 minutes he then added another with a shot from just outside the area for 3-0.
Midfielder Matt James robbed a Forden midfielder and then lobbed the advancing keeper from the edge of the area for the goal of the game. 4-0.
On the stoke of half time the visitors were awarded a free kick out wide, a lack of concentration saw them pull a goal back. Ht 4-1.
The second half was more of the same with us dominating possession and Forden defending deep being led well by their experienced centre half.
Rob Snedden set up Matt James for his second, James scoring from 14 yards after shooting across the keeper 5-1.
With just a couple of minutes left on the clock sub Goodwin beat the right back and hit a curling shot from the corner of the eighteen yard box. Final score 6-1.
Credit to Forden United FC who never stopped battling the whole 90 minutes, there wasn’t a bad challenge throughout the 90 minutes from either side.(Top bunch of lads).
The Gaffer chose striker Jack Biggs as man of the match for his two goals and all round game just edging out Matt James who pushed him all the way with his performance.
