LLANDRINDOD COLTS 0 SAINTS 3.

The Saints moved back to the top of the table last night after a 0-3 win,  a workman like performance against a very energetic Llandrindod Colts saw them come away with all 3 points. There was no Kevin Jones, Phil Davies and Rob Snedden all out due to injury.

The Saints couldn’t get any passing moves going early on with Llandod keen to close down the space in midfield, Gavin Williams had the beating of his fullback down the left and a couple of his crosses into the box were either saved by the home keeper or the bar was clipped from Ben Bevan and Josh Wisniewski. On 17 minutes the first goal was scored when  Williams sent in a pinpoint cross which midfielder Joe Mayglothling met and buried with a beauty of a header 0-1. It was 0-2 just over 10 minutes later when Bevan crossed in for Williams to socre from close range . The Saints did have other chances to take a healthier lead into half time but had to settle for 0-2.

The second half will be more remembered for 3 horrible incidents which left 2 Saints players on the sideline with injuries, the player who did the bad tackles was still on the pitch after the referee did nothing, 10 minutes from the end the same player punched another Saints player from behind and was finally shown the red card. The Colts had done very well in the second period seeing a lot of the ball but some good defending from the Saints back 4 saw new keeper Simon Hamer not having a lot to do, although when called upon though he looked comfortable in all areas. With 10 to go Johnny Daw picked the ball up on the half way line and turned his marker, he then went around the left back and sent in a cross which Bevan met and hit the bar with a thumping header, the ball flew out to Daw who volleyed it back into the net with his left foot for a great goal for the young striker. ft 0-3.

I thought the team looked a little tired which is expected after 2 big games in the last 7 days, they dug in though and looked very solid at the back. Lets just hope the horrendous tackles and punch doesn’t effect our season due to players missing out through bad injury. My man of the match is Havo who just edged out his defensive partner Russell Jones.
