Dolgellau 2 Saints 3.

Once again The Saints showed their cup pedigree by winning away at Dolgellau in the Spar Mid Wales League Cup to move into the quarter final stage where they will again have to travel after drawing Penparcau away.

The Saints were very dominant in the first half and should have gone in by more than their 0-1 lead. The goal came after striker Kevin Jones passed to Tom Weaver who showed good feet before crossing to the back post to Gav Williams who made no mistake from 6 yards out.

Dolgellau got more into the game in the second period and equalised after Dave Edwards managed to beat Steve Price.

The lead didn’t last long as Gareth Jenkins once again ghosted in for his now customary goal after a Sam Powell coss, striker Josh Wisniewki made it 1-3 which gave the Saints some breathing space.

Edwards got another goal for the homeside but in reality it was just a consolation as the Saints really should of added to their total but the referee blew up with the score at 2-3.

Manager Chris Baynton was pleased with yesterdays performance, he thought the side kept the ball a lot better on what was a very heavy pitch which was difficult to play football on.

Chris selected Kevin Jones for his man of the match just edging out Steve Goodwin who put in another consistent performance but decided on Jones for his attitude, discipline and team play.

Squad- Steve Price, Steve Goodwin, Chris Preece(c), Phil Davies, Gav Williams(Tom Wilkes), Gareth Jenkins, Tom Weaver, Sam Powell, Stu Davies, Kevin Jones, Josh Wisniewski. unused subs Wes Evans, Will Goodwin.
