Saints Juniors.

The under 16’s went down 3-5 to Rhayader Town yesterday at Forest Road, Tiny Hardings young side will learn a lot from this, they are all 14 years old and will have another season on top of this one in the under 16 league.

Assistant manager Andrew Harris said “we struggled to get out of second gear, with the score at 3-4 Andrew Barrell hit the bar, they broke and scored their fifth, that’s football”. He also said, “we were missing a few today but the boys who came in did well, Dan Price was man of the match, he was everywhere”.

Gaolscorers were Kyle Harding, Dan Price and Levi Phillips.

Steve Huddlestones’s under 14’s came back from being 1-0 down at Presteigne yesterday. Presteigne went 1-0 up just before half time after being on the back foot for most of the half, Matty Tong blasted a penalty high and wide in a frustrating first half for the visitors, Josh Warn also went close on a two occasions. Ht 1-0.

The second half  saw the visitors equalise with a wonder goal from their man of the match Edward Walkden, an OG put The Saints 1-2 up, Tong then made it 1-3 after getting on the end of a Noah Cripps cross.

A Presteigne striker broke with pace from the half way line and rounded the Hay keeper to make it 2-3. With 5 minutes to go Josh Warn went on a mazy run down the left wing, he passed to the overlapping Cripps who cut the ball back to the edge of the box where Tong drilled in a the teams 4th goal. ft 2-4.

Saints under 14 manager Huddlestone was pleased with the performance especially as several of the older boys weren’t available on the day.
