First League Defeat.

The Sunday Saints went down 2-1 to Toros FC this morning in Hereford.

On a small tight pitch the Saints struggled in a scrappy game. We went 0-1 up after 20 minutes when Ben Bevans long throw found Phil Davies in the box, the defender sent a glancing header past the keeper. Tom Lewis made a few good saves to keep it 0-1 but a sloppy goal brought the scores level at 1-1.

The second half was a tight affair lacking quality from both teams, Toros got what turned out to be the winning goal around the 70 minute mark with a well struck volley giving Lewis no chance. The Saints pushed for the equaliser in the last 15 minutes but found the keeper in top form after he pulled off several good saves, we felt we should have had a penalty for a foul on Bevan but the referee was unsighted so he couldn’t give it. Ft 2-1.

Jenko said “This was a poor performance, probably our worst of the season, we could of nicked a point but we didn’t do enough to deserve all three”.

He thought Tom Lewis, Ben Bevan, Joel Weale played okay the rest of us were well below our best, man of the match would go to Phil Davies.
